Learn the method
Integration, one decision at a time
Start by asking whether you need a family of antiderivatives or a value over an interval.
Worked example
- 1For ∫ x eˣ dx, choose u=x and dv=eˣ dx.
- 2Integration by parts gives x eˣ − ∫ eˣ dx.
- 3The answer is eˣ(x−1)+C. Differentiating it gives x eˣ.
A definite integral measures signed accumulation, not always geometric area. Split at sign changes when the question asks for total area.
What this Mathway calculus does
- Solve calculus problems directly in the browser.
- Read a numbered explanation and ask follow-up questions.
- Generate practice questions or a narrated video from the solution.
- Check domain restrictions; a numerical check is an aid, not a proof.
How to use it
- Enter a function or equation, or use the formula keyboard or a photo.
- Check the variable and differentiation settings, then press Solve.
- Read the steps, ask a follow-up question, or create a video lesson from the result.
